Thingamajig Theatre Company has announced a little Winter Season shuffle, followed by something fantastic to appear at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts.

The planned show to close the Winter Season, Art, wrapped up its Broadway run on December 21, 2025, but the timing of its extended success affected performance rights during Thingamajig’s planning window.

The good news? Our production of Art is not canceled — just postponed until next season, when they can give it the spotlight it deserves.

And stepping into the Winter/Spring slot? A true crowd-pleaser.

We’re thrilled to announce Bakersfield Mist by Stephen Sachs, a smart, funny, and unexpectedly moving comedy inspired by true events.

What’s it about? Maude (Karisa Bruin) is a fifty-something, unemployed bartender living in a trailer park who buys a painting for a few bucks at a thrift store. She almost throws it away—until she becomes convinced it’s a long-lost Jackson Pollock worth millions. Enter Lionel Percy (Dennis Elkins), a polished, world-class art expert from New York, who arrives in Bakersfield to authenticate the painting… and gets far more than he bargained for.

Bakersfield Mist is witty, sharp, and heartfelt, asking big questions about art, truth, class, and who gets to decide what (or who) is “authentic.”
