The high school football season continued in California last week, as many of the top programs in the Golden State were in action. Plenty of interesting results followed.
Another jam-packed slate is on deck as teams continue their quests for a state title. Below are the top 25 California high school football teams, according to the Massey Ratings, as of Oct. 20.
1. St. John Bosco Braves
The Braves remain on top of the California high school football rankings after a 27-14 victory over Santa Margarita Catholic. Koa Malau’ulu threw for 289 yards and four touchdowns, while Texas A&M commit Madden Williams had 111 receiving yards and a touchdown. Meanwhile, Dutch Horisk paced the St. John Bosco defense with eight total tackles, including three sacks. The Braves can go to 9-0 by defeating Servite on October 24.
2. Mater Dei Monarchs
After last week’s loss to Santa Margarita Catholic, the Monarchs responded with a 29-19 victory over Servite. Mater Dei can start another winning streak by defeating JSerra Catholic on the 24th.
3. Centennial Huskies
The Huskies are on a six-game winning streak following their 48-20 victory against Murrieta Valley. Centennial’s rushing offense generated 187 yards and five touchdowns, with Dean Gibson having two. Meanwhile, the defense tallied three interceptions and 1.5 sacks. The Huskies will return to action on October 23 against Norco.
4. Sierra Canyon Trailblazers
The Trailblazers remain spotless in the 2025 California high school football season after beating Notre Dame Sherman Oaks 45-10. Laird Finkel threw for 329 yards and three touchdowns, while Ja’Myron Baker had 117 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Jerod Terry rushed for 241 yards and two scores, Sierra Canyon will visit Bishop Amat on the 24th.
5. Santa Margarita Catholic Eagles
The Eagles remain in the top ten despite losing to St. John Bosco. In that defeat, Trent Mosley finished with 101 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns. Santa Margarita Catholic will try to bounce back by earning a victory against Orange Lutheran on the 24th.
6. Mission Viejo Diablos
The Diablos are on a three-game winning streak after a 34-16 victory against San Clemente. Luke Fahey’s 378-yard performance led to Jack Junker (109 receiving yards) and KJ Woodbury Jr. (151 yards, one TD) to reach the century mark. Meanwhile, the Mission Viejo defense tallied 13 tackles for losses (including six sacks) and three interceptions, two courtesy of Jordan Hicks. The Diablos will play at Edison next week.
7. De La Salle High School Spartans
The Spartans are at 7-0 after their 56-13 domination of Amador Valley. De La Salle High raced to a 49-6 halftime lead and never looked back. The Spartans will continue their 2025 California high school football schedule against San Ramon Valley on the 24th.
8. Orange Lutheran Lancers
The Lancers snapped their three-game losing streak by scoring a season-high 63 points against JSerra Catholic. Ezrah Brown completed all of his 17 passing attempts for 368 yards and three touchdowns. Sean Morris added 108 rushing yards and two TDs, while Chris Flores Jr. and Nico Bland both reached the 100-yard mark. Meanwhile, the Orange Lutheran defense gathered five sacks and two interceptions. The Lancers will visit Santa Margarita Catholic on the 24th.
9. Folsom Bulldogs
The Bulldogs stretched their winning streak to five games after a 48-7 domination of Whitney. It’s tied for the fewest points they’ve allowed this season. Folsom will face Jesuit on October 24.
10. Servite Friars
The Friars are still in the California high school football top 10 despite their 29-19 loss to Mater Dei. Kale Murphy led the Servite offense with 236 passing yards and three touchdowns. However, their schedule gets tougher as they face St. John Bosco on the 24th.
