PRESS-TELEGRAM BOYS BASKETBALL TOP 10
1. St. John Bosco (15-5): The Braves went 3-1 last week, highlighted by a 85-64 victory over Mater Dei in the Trinity League on Jan. 13. They went 2-1 in the Bass Pro Tournament of Champions in Springfield, Missouri, losing to eventual champion Calvary Christian Academy of Florida on Thursday, Jan. 15. Senior forward Christian Collins was the player of the game in all three victories.

2. La Mirada (17-6): The Matadores are on a nine-game win streak. They will play Gateway League games this week against Dominguez (Wednesday) and Bellflower (Friday).

3. Los Alamitos (14-7): The Griffins went 4-0 last week, highlighted by a 73-70 nonleague victory over St. Francis on Saturday. Los Alamitos will play Wednesday at Corona del Mar, which is 21-1. They will be seeking redemption after a 78-77 loss to the Sea Kings on Jan. 5.

4. Millikan (15-6): The Rams move up to No. 4 in the rankings after a 61-51 victory over Long Beach Poly on Friday, Jan. 16. Senior guard Jeremiah Hunt scored a game-high 24 points as he went 11 of 11 from the free throw line. They will play Jordan at Browning High on Wednesday and host Wilson on Friday.

5. Long Beach Poly (14-7): The Jackrabbits drop to No. 5 after losing to Millikan for the first time in a decade. Poly went 2-1 last week with Moore League victories over Jordan and Cabrillo. They will host Lakewood on Friday.

6. St. Anthony (12-8): The Saints move up to No. 6 after a 57-55 victory at home against St. Pius X-St. Matthias in the Del Rey League on Jan. 12. St. Anthony can take sole possession of first place in league with a victory over St. Monica on Wednesday, which is led by former Saints coach Allen Caveness.

7. St. Pius X-St. Matthias (12-8): The Warriors went 1-2 last week and drop to No. 7 in the rankings. They lost 57-55 at St. Anthony on Jan. 12. St. Pius bounced back with a 62-54 victory over St. Monica. They still have a chance to earn at least a share of first place in the Del Rey League.

8. Mayfair (10-7): The Monsoons went 3-0 last week, highlighted by a 66-52 victory at home against Dominguez in the Gateway League on Jan. 14. Mayfair will host rival Bellflower on Wednesday.

9. Warren (15-6): The Bears went 3-0 last week and move up to No. 9 in the rankings. Warren is undefeated in the Mid-Cities League. They play at rival Downey on Wednesday. King Johnson, Kenneth Martinez and Corrion Bonam are all averaging double figures in the scoring column.

10. Cabrillo (10-10): The Jaguars move into the Top 10 after a 73-67 victory over Wilson last week. Sophomore guard Ului-He-Lotu Eteaki scored a team-high 21 points, including nine in the fourth quarter.
