BAKERSFIELD Calif. (KGET) — The two Bakersfield locations of Houston TX Hot Chicken have temporarily closed to work on “a strategic evaluation of future options,” according to a spokesperson.

In response to questions from 17 News, Houston TX Hot Chicken senior account supervisor Katey Smart emailed the following:

“Two Bakersfield locations are temporarily closed as the brand conducts a strategic evaluation of future options in the market. These locations were independently operated, and no final decisions have been made at this time. We will share updates when plans are finalized.”

Known for chicken tenders and hot sandwiches ranging in spice level from no spice to “Houston, We Have a Problem!” — which requires customers to sign a waiver — Houston TX Hot Chicken has more than 20 locations in Texas, California, Utah, Nevada, Arizona, Washington, Idaho, Michigan and Ohio.
