In Business Magazine recently published an article, Are Climate-Related Disclosure Laws on the Horizon?, authored by Spencer Fane attorney Kami Hoskins.

In the piece, Kami recommended Arizona businesses with a California presence consider the latter state’s climate-related disclosure laws, such as SB 253 (California Climate Corporate Data Accountability Act) and SB 261 (Climate-Related Financial Risk Act). She outlined the requirements of these regulations – which will require compliance starting in 2026 – and provided important takeaways from the California Air Resources Board’s May 2025 workshop.

“Preparing climate-related disclosures takes time and might require specialized resources,” Kami said. “Therefore, Arizona businesses doing business in California – public and private – are encouraged to evaluate their reporting obligations carefully and consider preparing now.”

At the firm, Kami creates and implements effective solutions for employers navigating complex labor and employment law issues. In addition to her labor and employment practice, Kami advises businesses on sustainability and ESG strategies, including sustainability disclosures under relevant regulatory frameworks, greenhouse gas goal setting, DEI programs, and social impact programs.
