FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — A pickup truck driver was killed after crashing into a semi-truck trailer, which caused the truck to become engulfed in flames, police say.

Fresno police responded to a two-vehicle accident on Clovis Avenue, south of Golden State Boulevard, at approximately 7:30 a.m.

A 40-year-old man was driving a 2021 Freightliner northbound on Clovis Avenue and attempted a U-turn.

Simultaneously, an adult male driving a 2003 Chevrolet S-10 pickup was heading southbound on Clovis Avenue.

Police say that due to heavy fog, the Chevrolet collided with the Freightliner’s trailer.

The semi-truck driver felt the impact and safely pulled over, but the pickup truck was still lodged underneath the trailer.

The Chevy pickup truck became engulfed in flames while still under the trailer.

EMS arrived at the scene and reported that the driver died at the scene.
