BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The trial of Alan Booth, charged with drunken driving in two incidents including the 2023 Bakersfield Christmas Parade crash, has begun.

Booth, 74, is first standing trial on misdemeanor DUI charges for allegedly driving to a car dealership with a blood-alcohol content authorities say was three times the legal limit.

Then he’ll go on trial for the parade crash. He’s accused of reversing his pickup at high speed while drunk, hitting several people.

17 News is live blogging Tuesday’s proceedings.

The misdemeanor trial is expected to be over by Jan. 30.

Booth is represented by defense attorney Jeremy Brehmer. The prosecutor handling the case is Brandon Stallings.

The trial is being heard before Judge Brian M. McNamara.
