FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — What started as a scary situation over the weekend ended with a sweet surprise, thanks to Fresno firefighters.
The Fresno Fire Department says they responded to a report of a house fire.
When they arrived they found smoke coming from an oven that had cupcakes baking inside.

Firefighters learned the tenants were baking cupcakes for a birthday celebration when the oven caught fire, damaging the cupcakes and putting the party on pause.
Not wanting the birthday to end on a sour note, the crew from Engine 12 stepped in.
After making sure everyone was safe, firefighters went out and purchased a replacement cake for the family, surprising them and saving the celebration.
Fresno Fire officials say moments like these highlight what community service is all about, turning a stressful moment into a reason to smile.
