Chat with the Chief: Fresno police chief on department's new therapy dog

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — The Fresno Police Department recently revealed its first-ever therapy dog, which will help bring comfort and calm to officers.

It’s part of the city of Fresno’s Public Safety Wellness Program that is dedicated to the health and well-being of police and fire personnel.

The program includes peer support, critical incident debriefings, therapy, family support and various tools for overcoming adversity.

Police Chief Mindy Casto joined us with Officer Manriquez and the department’s newest recruit, Savannah, to talk about the importance of officer wellness and the impact already made by this rescue pup.
