Update: 10 p.m.
The losing streak is now at 2 after that 4-game win streak. The Miami Heat defeated the Sacramento Kings 130-117 Tuesday night at Golden 1 Center.
Miami had 33 assists and only 10 turnovers. The Kings had 16 turnovers, which resulted in 19 points for the Heat. The Kings did win points in the paint 62-46, but only shot 37% from three compared to 50% from three for the Heat, who led nearly the whole game.
Domantas Sabonis once again did not start and played a team-low 17 minutes. He finished with 6 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists. He apparently has not been a minutes restriction. Dylan Cardwell played 21 minutes and had 12 rebounds, 4 points, 2 blocks, 1 steal, 1 assist and 5 fouls. Maxime Raynaud played 18 minutes and had 7 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steals. Interesting big situation going on, but it helps fuel the tank.
DeMar DeRozan finished with a team-high 23 points. Zach LaVine was an efficient 7-10 from the floor for 18 points, but only played 18 minutes.
Sacramento is 12-32 and in 14th place in the Western Conference.
From Earlier Preview:Â
The Kings had their 4-game winning streak snapped by the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday night. Will Sacramento get back on track tonight? Hopefully not! Let’s get into it.
Who: Sacramento Kings (12-31) vs. Miami Heat (22-21)
Where: Golden 1 Center, Sacramento, CA
When: 7:00 PM PT / 10:00 PM ET
Watch: NBCSCA / League Pass
Something I’ve asked myself more times this season than I ever could have predicted: Is Dylan Cardwell my favorite player on this team? I’m still searching for the answer, but he’s up there. While Maxime Raynaud and Domantas Sabonis struggled against Portland on Sunday, Cardwell actually led all Kings centers in minutes, and looked pretty good doing it. He’s such a different type of player than what the Kings have had in the center spot, and it’s refreshing.
What does that have to do with tonights game against the Miami Heat? I don’t know. We’re running out of interesting things to hash out here. I can attempt to tie it all together: what is Doug Christie’s solution at center?
Domantas Sabonis hasn’t started since he returned to the lineup two games ago. At some point, Christie is going to pull the trigger and place him back in the starting unit, right? And then who heads to the bench? And who doesn’t play at all? If Cardwell is the casualty, he will be missed.
Prediction: Kings 115, Heat 108.
