FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — Fresno leaders met with local employers to announce an expansion of a program designed to help people on public assistance find fulltime jobs.
The initiative connects participants with training and employment, while helping local businesses offset the cost of hiring and training new workers.
Participants gain handson experience and transition into permanent jobs.
Employers gain access to a readytowork talent pool.
“The New Employment Opportunities Program provides a practical incentive for folks to hire,” says Will Oliver, President/CEO of Fresno County Economic Development Corporation. “These wage reimbursements help offset training costs. It helps reduce risks. It provides working capital to employers, which is why many don’t just hire one time. They return when they have hiring needs.”
The program has already helped place thousands of people into jobs locally.
Hundreds more are expected to be placed over the next several years.
County leaders say the program benefits workers, businesses, and the local economy.
