FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — There’s now a warrant out for the arrest of a woman accused of committing a crime for businessman Bobby Salazar.

The U.S. Department of Justice says Shylo Badiali violated the terms of her pretrial release.

Legal analyst Roger Bonakdar explains those terms: “One of which is to not be in contact with her co-defendants, to not consume drugs or alcohol and most importantly, put on house arrest.”

Last October, a federal grand jury indicted Badiali, Salazar and Thomas Qualls on several felony counts.

Investigators say Salazar received more than nine hundred thousand dollars in insurance money after allegedly paying the other two to torch one of his namesake restaurants in central Fresno nearly two years ago.

Court documents state Badiali agreed to her release conditions in November, but just days later tested positive for meth.

That’s just one of several alleged violations.

“Apparently, the day before she was supposed to appear in court, her ankle monitor/monitoring device alerted to tampering, which means someone was trying to pull it off,” Bonakdar said.

She never showed up for that court date.

The DOJ says it attempted to contact her several times but now does not know where she is.

Bonakdar says this could impact Salazar’s trial.

“Her unavailability affects time,” Bonakdar explained. “It affects when the next hearings could be, it affects when the trial could go.”

We did reach out to Badiali’s attorney, but have not heard back.

Qualls has pleaded not guilty to a felony arson charge.

Salazar has also pleaded not guilty to two arson-related felonies and firearms charges, after investigators say they found several weapons at his home – including four with serial numbers removed and one ghost gun.

He remains out of jail on bond.

Salazar was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday for a status hearing, but it was postponed until this summer so all discovery can be reviewed.
