A police sergeant was shot and a suspect killed after a chase across multiple counties that ended in San Jose on Wednesday, January 21.
The San Jose Police Department said the incident was related to an armed carjacking.
According to local news, police began pursuing the suspect after he stole a car at gunpoint, firing at officers at several points during the chase.
The suspect was killed in a shootout with police off Highway 87 in San Jose, and a wounded police sergeant was in a stable but critical condition.
