VIDEO: California Water Service has announced the recipients of its seventh annual Firefighter Grant Program, awarding more than $186,000 to nine fire departments across its service areas.
The grants aim to enhance rescue and emergency services by funding critical resources and equipment. Marty Kropelnicki, Cal Water Chairman and CEO, emphasized the importance of supporting local heroes, stating,
“By helping to fund the purchase of some of the critical resources and equipment our fire departments need, we can help our local heroes better protect our communities.”
The grants will cover a range of needs, from laryngoscopes for pre-hospital emergency care to ventilation fans and gas detection equipment. Notable recipients include the Bakersfield Fire Department, which will receive specialized equipment to enhance its Urban Search and Rescue response capability, and the Chico Fire Department, which will use its $25,000 grant for new gas detection equipment.
