OAKLAND — A 24-year-old man was wounded in an apparent road-rage related shooting Wednesday evening in East Oakland, authorities said.
The man, an Oakland resident, was treated and released at a hospital for a wound to his leg.
The shooting happened about 6:50 p.m. Wednesday in the 4700 block of San Leandro Street.
According to initial police reports, the man told officers he had been driving in the 6500 block of San Leandro Street when a silver Honda Odyssey minivan he had driven around cut in front of him. The man said he passed the van again and when the two vehicles got to the 4700 block of San Leandro Street the van pulled alongside him and the driver fired a shot that hit him in the leg.
Police have not said if the man shot and the van driver ever exchanged any words.
The van kept going and was gone by the time police arrived. A detailed description of the shooter has not been released.
