San Francisco’s Marina is the quintessential love-to-hate and hate-to-love neighborhood. Tiya emerged in spring 2024 on a dark Lombard Street corner. Brothers Sujan and Pujan Sarkar take the already powerful Indian dining scene to the Marina with panache and purpose.
Tiya’s vibe is high-class, a cut above many of the neighboring restaurants. That’s by design, and not a bad thing. There’s a luxe green on the seats and the bar feels important thanks to Thomas. A hostess will let you know if there’s room; a private dining room is also available.
Something special. Celebrate life, for god’s sake. In the Marina, there’s nowhere quite as cutting-edge as Tiya. Little Original Joe’s may have those terrific spindly fries, and A16 falls on the other end of the spectrum. Show me another stealth wealth restaurant that can compete with Tiya nearby and I’ll eat my hat (read: another order of eggplant kofta).
