The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose seven-tenths of a cent Friday to $4.353, after dropping to its lowest amount since July 15, 2021, thanks to three consecutive decreases totaling 1.3 cents.
The average price is three-tenths of a cent less than one week ago, 11.1 cents lower than one month ago and 14 cents below what it was one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The average price has dropped $2.141 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The Orange County average price rose for the second consecutive day after dropping to its lowest amount since June 22, 2021, increasing six-tenths of a cent to $4.236. It rose seven-tenths of a cent Thursday.
The Orange County average price is six-tenths of a cent more than one week ago but 10.3 cents less than one month ago and 19.6 cents lower than one year ago. It has dropped $2.223 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.

“Oil Price Information Service reports that Los Angeles wholesale gasoline prices are moving up as part of the annual cycle of switching from producing winter-blend fuel to the more expensive summer-blend gasoline,” Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager, said in a statement.
“This switch is required by California air quality regulations. Even though gas stations don’t have to start selling summer blend gasoline until April 1, refineries must adjust ahead of time to begin producing the summer blend.”
The national average price rose for the third consecutive day following a run of four decreases in five days totaling 2.2 cents, increasing 1.2 cents to $2.862. It has risen 4 cents over the past three days, including 1.7 cents Thursday.
The national average price is 2.3 cents more than one week ago and four-tenths of a cent higher than one month ago but 27.3 cents less than one year ago. It has dropped $2.154 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
