CalOptima Health, the single largest health insurer in Orange County, announced that Chief Executive Michael Hunn is retiring, effective Dec. 31.

“I am proud of everything we have achieved at CalOptima Health over the past five years, and I will remain fully committed and focused through the end of the year,” Hunn said in statement.

Hunn has served as CEO of the Orange-based agency, which has an annual budget of $4 billion, since 2022. He joined CalOptima in 2021 as interim CEO.

During his tenure, Hunn led the implementation of initiatives such as the Street Medicine Program in four cities in Orange County.

Prior to CalOptima, Hunn was chairman of the board for the Hospital Association of Southern California and a former CEO of Providence Health & Services Southern California Region.
