On Oct. 18, The Beehive in South Los Angeles welcomed a crowd of business leaders, changemakers and Hollywood players for a night of charity and camaraderie.

Hosted by actor and author Max Greenfield, the annual Chrysalis Butterfly Ball unfolded as the sun set, welcoming guests to a cocktail reception flowing with wine and tequila tastings, followed by a hearty dinner featuring a flavorsome cacio e pepe risotto, green beans and prime rib.

Following opening remarks, the live auction was underway. Attendees had the chance to bid on getaways ranging from the luxe Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea to the historic Corinthia London. The highest bid of the evening went to a lunch with Chrysalis Board Member (and real estate investment and industry veteran) Bob Hart at Hillcrest Country Club.

Over the course of the evening, the gala raised $100,000.

The evening came to an apex with the awards presentation. Commercial real estate services and investment firm CBRE received the business leadership honor for working to address affordable housing and homelessness across L.A., while Chrysalis presented its client Elyse Moya with the John Dillon Award for her continued commitment and work as a Department of Children and Family probation liaison at Safe Place for Youth.

Then, walking up to the podium to “Can’t Help Myself” by Four Tops, Academy Award-winning actress Da’Vine Joy Randolph accepted the Spirit of Chrysalis Award for her artistry and advocacy efforts. “They do not abandon their clients,” she said about the organization. “They continue to walk with them.”

To finish the night, The Action Figures —a band made up of Greg Grunberg, Scott Grimes, Nick Marzock, Jack Coleman, Brad Savage, Jorge Garcia, Bonnie Gordon and Jake Grunberg that has raised millions for charity — played away, performing “Summer of’69,” “American Girl” and other crowd favorites.
