Murder of beloved Clovis educator believed to be not random attack

CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) — Police now believe it has identified a person of interest in the deadly beating of a beloved Clovis Educator.

Detectives with the Clovis Police now say the violent attack was not a random act of violence.

Police say Geoff Bernardi was attacked by an individual outside his apartment complex around midnight on December 18.

His girlfriend, the only witness, described the attacker as wearing a black puffer jacket with a hoodie.

Bernardi died from his injuries two days after the incident.

Clovis Police did not provide the identity of the possible person of interest, as they await further evidence to be processed.

A memorial service for Bernardi will be held next Friday.
