The San Francisco Dons (13-8, 5-3 WCC) visit the No. 8 Gonzaga Bulldogs (20-1, 8-0) in Saturday West Coast Conference action in Spokane, Washington. The contest at McCarthey Athletic Center will tip off at 8 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NCAA basketball odds around the San Francisco vs. Gonzaga odds and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions for the best bets.

San Francisco is playing its first game in 6 days and its first road tilt since Jan. 10. In their last game (Sunday), the -5.5 Dons defeated Washington State 85-80 (Over 146.5). USF has lost 33 straight against Gonzaga; its last win against the Bulldogs was in 2012. That includes Gonzaga sweeping 2 regular-season games and a WCC tourney meeting last season.

Gonzaga is at home for a second straight game. On Wednesday, the Bulldogs clocked an 84-60 (Under 150.5) triumph over +26.5 Pepperdine. The Bulldogs rank 13th in the nation in scoring offense (89.9 points per game) and 33rd in scoring defense (66.5).

Gonzaga 86, San Francisco 65

No interest; PASS.

Over its last 7 games, USF is 1-6 ATS.

The Dons are a solid program but one that has slipped defensively a bit this season. And San Francisco’s schedule has not exactly been loaded with offensive juggernauts. Look for the Dons to struggle, especially in the first half against a highly efficient Bulldogs offense. And USF gets much of its defensive value in how it defends the 3-ball. But that’s not an important facet of the Bulldogs’ arsenal. Per BartTorvik, Gonzaga ranks 348th in the nation in 3-point rate.

Gonzaga has the deeper lineup and is much better on the boards. And this WCC matchup presents a contrast in tempo that may not fit USF’s style. The Dons grind out low-possession numbers while the Bulldogs play much faster. Against fast Portland (Jan. 4) and San Diego (Jan. 2) in league games, USF went 0-2 ATS. In tougher nonconference affairs against up-tempo Colorado, Memphis and Saint Louis, the Dons went 1-2 ATS.

Peg GONZAGA -16.5 (-115) as having moderate value in this spot.

The Under is 5-1 across the Bulldogs’ last 6.

San Francisco will certainly be launching from 3, but other point-spiral factors don’t figure to get out on the loose in this matchup. In those above-mentioned games against fast-paced teams for the Dons, the Under went 4-1. So, San Francisco’s pace is prevailing in those contests. And Gonzaga gets much of its value with an efficient defense, one that ushers opposing shooters into a lot of suboptimum attempts with dwindling clock time.

TAKE THE UNDER 151.5 (-115).
