Anaheim 2 winner Chase Sexton.
Eli Tomac’s quest to three-peat the opening rounds of the 2026 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship Series was derailed by a P5 start that allowed Chase Sexton to earn the win at Anaheim 2. It was a thrilling race, with the top five riders within a six-second range from the opening lap to lap 13 of 21.
Eli Tomac (#3) battles with Hunter Lawrence.
Jason Anderson grabbed the holeshot and held the lead for six laps, with Hunter Lawrence, Chase Sexton, and Eli Tomac jockeying for positions behind him. Sexton grabbed the lead on lap 7 and was never shown a wheel, though he did not run away. Behind Sexton, Anderson, Lawrence, and Tomac were joined by reigning Supercross Champion Cooper Webb in an epic battle for P2 at Anaheim Stadium.
Anderson held P2 until lap 13, when Lawrence passed him. On lap 14, Tomac and Webb passed Anderson in quick succession as Anderson dropped completely off the pace. Lawrence and Tomac ran 2-3 for the remainder of the race. A lap 19 fall by Webb allowed Anderson to move up to P4, where Anderson finished ahead of Webb.
Ken Roczen came into A2 in P2 in the standings. However, a first lap fall put Roczen in last place. Roczen worked his way up to P15 by lap 6, P10 by lap 15, and his final pass was for P8 on lap 18. Ahead of Roczen, Joey Savatgy and Jorge Prado moved through the pack from 10-11 to 6-7 at the finish, with Prado never heading Savatgy. Aaron Plessinger, who had a frightening solo crash in his Heat race, ran as high as P5 in the Main before withdrawing after 14 laps.
Tomac leaves A2 with 70 points, giving him an eight-point lead over Lawrence, who heads Sexton by five points. Roczen dropped from P2 in the standings to P4, now 14 points behind Tomac. Anderson and Webb are tied at 46 points in P5 in the 2026 Supercross Championship Standings after three rounds.
The series resumes on Saturday night at NRG Stadium in Houston. Check our 2026 Supercross Television Schedule for viewing details.
