The San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office has filed a murder charge against a man in the death of his estranged wife.

Gordon Abas Goodarzi is charged with murder with aggravating circumstances, the DA’s office announced Sunday.

The 66-year-old was arrested in connection with the death of his estranged wife, 58-year-old Newport Beach resident Aryan Papoli. She had been reported missing before her body was found 75 feet down an embankment in Crestline, a community in the San Bernardino Mountains, on Nov. 18, 2025.

She remained unidentified until Dec. 1.

Goodarzi, a resident of Rolling Hills, was arrested on Friday, two months and one week after the discovery of Papoli’s body.

The circumstances surrounding Papoli’s death, including what led up to it and how her body ended up in Crestline, have not been disclosed.

Per the DA’s office, Goodarzi’s arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday.
