(FOX40.COM) — The California Highway Patrol responded to a vehicle fire on Westbound Highway 50 just east of Zinfandel Drive, which resulted in a male driver being hospitalized.

According to CHP, the driver appeared to suffer a medical emergency before his vehicle struck the center divider wall, bounced off, came to a rest and blocked the number two and third lanes.

After several vehicles passed the crash, CHP said at least two good Samaritans stopped to help.

CHP reported that as the car started to smoke, the bystanders pulled the driver out. Moments later, the car became fully engulfed.
