Paul Schapira has submitted his resignation after less than a year as an Oxford Township trustee.

The board accepted Schapira’s resignation with a 6-0 vote during its Jan. 14 meeting.

Schapira was appointed to the board during a special meeting on May 20, 2025.

“Due to increasing professional commitments, I am no longer able to dedicate the necessary time and energy required to fulfill my duties as a trustee,” Schapira wrote in his resignation letter. “I wish the organization and the remaining trustees continued success in fulfilling its mission.”

The township clerk is accepting resumés from residents interested in being appointed to the seat.

The deadline for submissions is noon on Thursday,  Jan. 29.

Interviews will be conducted during a special township board meeting on Feb. 4. The person appointed will serve until Nov. 20, 2026. The seat will be up for election for a two-year term on Nov. 3.

The board also voted 6-0 to increase compensation for township trustees by $5 per meeting.

Trustees will now be paid $170 for each regular or special board meeting they attend and will be paid $145 for each committee meeting and $300 for each committee meeting lasting more than four hours. The new pay rate went into effect on Jan. 1.
