Researchers from our Human Rights Center (HRC) and UC Berkeley’s School of Public Health issued two reports about the effects of wildfires on local agricultural workers. Surveying over 1,000 farmworkers, local government staff, and community organizations, the reports evaluate current regulations and propose improvements to help ensure agricultural continuity and worker safety during wildfire emergencies. The project began from a paper that HRC Climate Researcher Linda Gordon ’24 (pictured), who co-authored both reports, wrote as a UC Berkeley Law student. Read more about the findings.
