January 26, 2026 – Fresno Police Chief Mindy Casto released the following statement:
“The Fresno Police Department is out working seven days a week to conduct criminal investigations, apprehend wanted suspects, and protect our community. That includes plainclothes officers conducting operations throughout the City of Fresno, oftentimes in partnership with personnel from other law-enforcement agencies.
Fresno Police officers also operate a variety of unmarked vehicles. When taking enforcement action, they will always be wearing a tactical vest, bearing a Fresno Police Department patch and an identifier on the back as either police or their designated special unit, such as “MAGEC” or “CCAT”.
While it is lawful to observe officers involved in enforcement activity, please do not engage in dangerous conduct that obstructs or delays them in carrying out their official duties. Intentionally creating a dangerous situation for officers or the public will likely result in your arrest. We appreciate our community and understand the interest in observing how we conduct operations – please be sure to do so safely.” – Fresno Police Chief Mindy Casto
