Firefighters worked early Monday to extinguish a major fire at a popular beach club in Monmouth County, authorities said.

The fire was reported around 1:45 a.m. at the Breakwater Beach Club in the 1100 block of Ocean Avenue North in Long Branch.

No injuries were reported, but the damage was extensive, firefighters said.

A fire official described the blaze as “a major fire,” and said crews worked throughout the morning to extinguish the flames.
