(FOX40.COM) — The West Sacramento Police Department reported that alcohol and speed appear to be factors in a crash that killed a 31-year-old woman on Sunday afternoon.

According to West Sacramento police, the crash occurred at 1:40 p.m. on West Capitol Avenue near the Enterprise exit.

WSPD stated the driver, who is a 28-year-old man from West Sacramento, was transported to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries. After he was released, he was booked into Yolo County Jail for suspicion of felony DUI & Gross Vehicular Manslaughter.

Authorities reported the department traffic unit continues to investigate this case.

“Our sincere condolences go out to the victim’s family and loved ones during this difficult time,” WSPD said.

Officers are not releasing suspect information to the public at this time.
