There are so many challenges facing our communities and the media right now. From the divisiveness of social media, the rise of AI-generated content and disingenuous news outlets, to increasing media closures and consolidations, to a national atmosphere that devalues the work of journalists, there is a lot that we are up against.
Yet Oakland County Times remains a bright spot.
Because of our resiliency and our ability to work with a modest budget, we’ve been able to persevere. Our candidate interview series continues. As does our coverage of local events, local news, and our support of local restaurants. We continue to highlight the good things happening in our communities while reporting on problems in a way that encourages people to see multiple perspectives and work together for solutions.
Since we began in 2009 serving just one city, Oakland County Times has continued to grow as our readers have continued to invest in our work. The more resources we have, the more we are able to do for you.
Do to increasing costs, we’re starting an annual end of the year fundraiser. Supporting our work means we can continue being a trusted source of local news, and a site that leaves people feeling informed and connected to the community in a genuine way.
