Amazon Web Services reported an outage at 12:11 a.m. Monday, taking down numerous major websites, including Canvas for various colleges.
According to the AWS website, they offer reliable, scalable and inexpensive cloud computing services.
When the services initially went down, the AWS health dashboard reported an issue in North Virgina, which has one of their biggest data centers.
The dashboard stated: “We are investigating increased error rates and latencies for multiple AWS services in the US-EAST-1 Region. We will provide another update in the next 30-45 minutes.”
Other websites affected include Apple Music, Snapchat, Venmo and Facebook.
As of 11:22 a.m. PDT, the health board was updated to share that AWS’ mitigations to resolve launch failures are continuing to progress.
