Re “Division grows in wake of Minnesota shooting” (Jan. 26): I would like to see ICE and Border Patrol wearing distinctive uniforms, different from those worn by the military.

As an Army veteran, I do not like to see these thug-acting Homeland Security people diminish the good reputation of our proud American military tradition by being clothed in similar uniforms and beating peaceful civilians.

Re “County flags to be lowered in recognition of deaths in Minnesota” (Jan. 25): I see Tara Lawson-Remer, chair of the county Board of Supervisors, ordered all county and U.S. flags to be flown at half-staff to honor the Minnesota protesters who were killed by government law enforcement officials. Good for her.

But where was her “mourning and real alarm” when Laken Riley and many other Americans were killed by people here illegally? Where were the orders for flags at half-staff then?
