BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — CHP said 30 to 40 vehicles were involved in a crash on eastbound Highway 58 near Towerline Road Tuesday morning, causing closures to both sides of the highway.
According to the CHP’s website, at around 8:07 a.m., it was initially reported there was three vehicles involved in a crash on eastbound Highway 58 near Towerline Road. The website said there was heavy fog in the area.
Officials with CHP said there are approximately 30 to 40 vehicles. Officer Toro said it started with two separate, three-to-four-vehicle crashes that escalated into a chain of events.
Caltrans District 6 said Highway 58 is closed in both directions, eastbound at Towerline Road and westbound at Highway 223.
There is no estimated time on reopening.
Several injuries involved range from minor to major. No fatalities.

CHP is gathering information from drivers, insurance, as well tow trucks for the vehicles involved.
