Santa Clarita’s voice in the State Capitol is poised to grow even stronger as a select group of local leaders prepares to head north for the 17th Annual KHTS Sacramento Road Trip in 2026.

Organized by KHTS FM 98.1 & AM-1220 in partnership with California State Senator Suzette Martinez Valladares and her office, the annual trip continues a long-standing tradition of bringing the Santa Clarita Valley’s most pressing concerns directly to state decision-makers in Sacramento.

“I am thrilled to partner with KHTS to bring back the KHTS Sacramento Road Trip,” Senator Suzette Martinez Valladares said. “It has been a powerful annual event since 2005. We are honored to build upon Senator Wilk’s legacy and look forward to making the 2026 trip a truly memorable experience.”

A Premier Delegation

The 2026 Sacramento Road Trip is happening March 9–10 and will feature a delegation of Santa Clarita Valley leaders committed to advocating for the region’s priorities.

“Over the past three decades, we’ve traveled with more than 1,000 Santa Clarita community leaders who took time out of their busy lives to get a glimpse behind the curtain of our state government,” said KHTS co-owner Carl Goldman.

Participants will have the opportunity to engage directly with influential lawmakers throughout the trip, including scheduled appearances and meetings with Senator Valladares.

Focusing on What Matters Most

The 17th Annual Sacramento Road Trip will focus on four to five critical issues that directly impact the Santa Clarita Valley and fall under the jurisdiction of the State of California. These issues traditionally include education, water, business, infrastructure, and public services.

“Our trip is very bipartisan,” Goldman said. “We travel with liberals and conservatives alike. The delegation includes business owners, elected officials, educators, and nonprofit leaders.”

Seventeen Years of Advocacy

Founded in 2005 by the late Assemblyman Keith Richman and KHTS co-owner Carl Goldman, the Sacramento Road Trip was created to bridge the gap between local communities and state leadership.

KHTS FM 98.1 & AM-1220 will broadcast live throughout the trip, providing real-time updates and interviews with attendees. These interviews will also be posted on the KHTS website, offering the community an inside look at the experience.

Join the Movement

Beyond policy advocacy, the Sacramento Road Trip continues to strengthen relationships among Santa Clarita’s civic, business, and nonprofit communities. Past trips have produced tangible results, including strengthened partnerships between state officials and local institutions such as College of the Canyons.

With only a few spaces remaining, those interested in participating in a future Sacramento Road Trip and helping advocate for Santa Clarita’s future are encouraged to contact KHTS for more information.
