SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — For almost 14 years, the restaurant Rich Table has been a San Francisco staple. Rich Table focuses on fresh ingredients for hearty and unique homestyle recipes.
Evan and Sarah Rich created a comfortable place where their guests can enjoy both creative and familiar recipes.
Between the two of them, they have over 30 years of culinary experience. The couple’s goal is to use this food knowledge and let their dishes speak for themselves.
“Rich Table is a chef-driven, really fantastic restaurant where we go to the market, we see what’s good and we cook it. We let our backgrounds speak for themselves,” said Evan Rich, co-owner of Rich Table.
Evan grew up on the East Coast, while Sarah traveled through Texas and Louisiana before combining their food knowledge and bringing it to San Francisco.
“I knew we wanted to open a restaurant. I knew at some point we’d have a family. And I knew those things mean kind of, you’re sticking where you are. And I just wasn’t sure New York was where I wanted to live for the rest of my life. And we decided on San Francisco and took a chance,” said Sarah Rich, co-owner of Rich Table.
With tremendous support from the Bay Area community, Rich Table has thrived and expanded its vision to two more locations. Rotisserie, offering more home-style cooking, and RT Bistro, with more upscale dishes.
“We kind of thought to ourselves, maybe we can create something that’s a little bit more approachable, but fresh. We were thinking a lot about how we like to eat at home,” said Sarah.
“So it’s RT Bistro … where we’re going to keep things very simple, you know, very fresh or very seasonal, a little bit more to work with, a little bit different perspective,” said Evan.
Running three successful businesses together, while being in a marriage, can be a chore but the Richs have managed to combine business and personal so both restaurant and family can thrive.
“…we’ve created our world around our work … It goes in and out of personal and work, and you know, our kids come into the restaurants,” said Evan.
“We also just understand each other really well. We have the same goals in mind, and we don’t always agree on everything, but we have the same plan and the same hopes.” Added Sarah.
