A woman was struck and killed by a vehicle in Long Beach Tuesday.

Officers were dispatched at 5:57 a.m. Tuesday to an area near Pacific Coast Highway and Gundry Avenue, just east of Alamitos Avenue, to reports of a traffic collision involving a pedestrian, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

The driver remained at the scene and began rendering medical aid to the victim until the arrival of Long Beach Fire Department paramedics, police said.

The woman was rushed to a hospital, where she later died as a result of her injuries. Her name was not immediately released.

Detectives determined after conducting a preliminary investigation that a 2024 Chevy Colorado was traveling westbound on PCH moments before colliding with the woman, who was walking northbound across PCH and outside of a marked crosswalk.

It has not been determined by investigators whether speed or distracted or impaired driving were factors contributing to the collision, police said.

Anyone with additional information about the fatal collision was urged to contact LBPD Collision Investigation Detective Dougherty at 562-570-7358. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
