The Queen Mary, that regal, passage-filled, wood-lined, brassy-and-classy, said-to-be-haunted icon that has made a haunting and hallowed home in Long Beach since 1967, first rose, one rivet at a time, in the early 1930s.

The colossal ship was completed after a colossal effort in 1934, and in 1936? The ocean-roaming conveyance grandly set out to sail, an auspicious and pomp-filled occasion befitting an opulently appointed ocean-liner.

That historic inaugural voyage will be recalled throughout 2026 in a host of different ways aboard the Queen Mary, with festive food offerings, a new tour, and anniversary decorations adding to the ship’s queenly aura.

A throwback menu dubbed “Dining Through the Decades” will debut at the Chelsea Chowder House while a brand-new Embarkation Tour “re-imagines how guests experience the Queen Mary.”

And on the actual and official 90th anniversary of the Queen Mary’s maiden voyage, which is May 27? Stroll aboard the ship, no admission required, during a celebratory Community Day.

“Celebrating the Queen Mary’s 90th anniversary is about honoring her extraordinary legacy while continuing to create meaningful experiences for today’s guests,” said Steve Caloca, Managing Director of the Queen Mary.

“This anniversary year reflects our commitment to preserving her history, unveiling new stories, and welcoming the community aboard to experience why the Queen Mary continues to matter nine decades after she first set sail.”

Those cornerstone festivities that have long been synonymous with the landmark, including Fourth of July fun and a splashy New Year’s Eve party, are festooning the 2026 calendar, too.
