Atletico Nacional has agreed to a deal to sign forward Chicho Arango from the San Jose Earthquakes, sources briefed on the deal tell The Athletic.

The proposed move comes as a shock as Arango only signed a new, long-term contract this offseason.

Atletico Nacional will be Arango’s sixth club since 2021, featuring for Millonarios, LAFC, Pachuca, Real Salt Lake and the Quakes before heading to Colombia.

Arango, 30, had 13 goals and three assists for the Quakes last year, his only season with the club. San Jose acquired Arango last winter from Real Salt Lake, where he scored 25 goals over a season and a half.

Arango initially came to MLS in 2021 with LAFC, where he won MLS Cup the following year.

San Jose is finalizing a deal to sign German forward Timo Werner but now will have two designated player slots open. The club lost star winger Cristian Espinoza earlier this winter, in addition to forward Josef Martinez, meaning the club will have a brand new attack in 2026.
