BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — A new report from the Kern County Grand Jury reveals that not all cities in the county have current disaster plans.
The report highlights a significant gap in the ReadyKern emergency alert system, which lacks a mechanism to notify officials about disabled residents, potentially causing delays in evacuations.
The grand jury recommends that all incorporated cities establish an emergency plan by June 1. Additionally, the report suggests the county should assist the elderly and disabled in preparing go-bags for emergencies.
