Between January and July of 2023, Lisman created a scheme to steal identities and defraud the victims, officials said.

In July of 2023, Lisman allegedly used the name, social security number and other personal information of another person to buy a car at a Bakersfield car dealership.

He allegedly paid $40,000 to buy the car on the dealership’s website before picking up the vehicle in person, according to the release. He reportedly showed a fake driver’s license created from the victim’s actual license information and Lisman’s picture.

Lisman also allegedly caused other people’s mail to be forwarded to his home by filing and submitting fraudulent change of address forms for the mail recipients, prosecutors said.

In September of 2023, Lisman possessed several credit cards, checks and debit cards under other people’s names, according to officials. He allegedly opened credit and debit cards in other people’s names and used those cards to withdraw cash and purchases worth thousands of dollars between May and July of that year.

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service conducted the investigation, the release said.

Lisman is set to be sentenced April 20. He faces a required sentence of two years in prison and up to 20 years, as well as a $250,000 fine, according to officials.
