LONG BEACH, CA — Four arrests have been made months after two men were found fatally shot in Long Beach, police announced Tuesday.

An investigation led detectives to identify Jesus Arredondo, 40, of Carson, as a suspect in connection with the August slayings of Luis Parra, 45, and Josue Pacheco, 24, the Long Beach Police Department said, adding that three more arrests were also made in connection with the fatal shooting.

Officers responded to a report of a dead body near Compton Creek and the 710 Freeway just after 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 6, police said.

When officers arrived, they found two men, later identified as Arredondo and Pacheco, with gunshot wounds to their upper bodies, according to police. Long Beach Fire Department rescuers declared the men dead, police said.

Homicide detectives took up the investigation, leading them to identify Arredondo as a suspect, police said.

Arredondo was booked into jail Jan. 15 on a count of murder, police said, adding that he is being held on $1 million bail.

Detectives identified and arrested three more suspects in connection with the men’s deaths: a 17-year-old of Carson; Stephen Lee Talbot, 42, of Los Angeles; and Timothy Garcia, 35, of Harbor City, according to police.

All three suspects, who are each being held on $2 million bail, were booked into jail on a count of aiding someone who committed a felony, police said.

“These arrests exemplify the focus, expertise, and unwavering commitment demonstrated by our Homicide detectives in ensuring suspects are held accountable for their actions,” Chief of Police Wally Hebeish said in a written statement.

Detectives have not determined a motive for the fatal shootings, police said.

Detectives will present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, which will determine if criminal charges should be filed, according to police.
