LaRussell, the Vallejo rapper whose backyard concerts attract fans from thousands of miles away, will play a major Super Bowl show. On Wednesday morning, the NFL announced that the rapper would open Super Bowl 60’s Tailgate Concert, which is scheduled to take place before Sunday’s game. Teddy Swims, the R&B singer behind “Lose Control,” is set to headline.

Aside from Bad Bunny’s highly anticipated halftime show, the Tailgate Concert is one of several splashy Super Bowl concerts taking place next week. Green Day and Counting Crows will perform at Pier 29 on Feb. 6, the Friday before Super Bowl 60. The NFL is hosting a Sting concert that same night, and on Saturday, Chris Stapleton is scheduled to play at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, courtesy of the Bay Area Host Committee.

“People don’t become famous and successful and stay home,” he told SFGATE in an interview last year. “They usually move to where other famous and successful people are. But I stay here, and it builds the morale of the community and makes your kids feel like it’s attainable.”

Both Teddy Swims and LaRussell are scheduled to perform on Feb. 6 at EA Sports’ Madden Bowl at Chase Center, where they’ll be accompanied by Luke Combs, Stephen Wilson Jr. and Gavin Adcock.
