Restaurant week: San Diego’s Restaurant Week returns this week with eight days of dining deals. Over 100 restaurants across the county will be offering specials on brunch, lunch and dinner courses. Art for a Cause: The University Club of San Diego and The Wilshire Foundation are teaming up for a fundraising event. Art for a Cause brings fine art from exhibits in New York and London to be viewed and select works be available for purchase. The event will also have light hors d’oeuvres, a cashless bar and a speaking engagement. French dance troupe performs sun-inspired work tonight: La Jolla Music Society will present Compagnie Hervé Koubi, which blends contemporary, hip-hop, capoeira and martial arts movement into their gravity-defying dance works. Irish culture: The House of Ireland in Balboa Park is hosting a celebration of Irish culture. Legs & Eggs: Local coffee shops and DJs are collaborating with Herb and Wood for a new weekly breakfast series at night. ‘The Apiary’ opens Friday in Carlsbad: New Village Arts presents the regional premiere of this sci-fi play about an all-women team of researchers trying to stop the extinction of bees to avoid global starvation. “The Art of Banksy: Without Limits”: An international touring exhibition that celebrates the life and work of Banksy, the anonymous British street artist whose whimsical, satirical and protest graffiti artwork has turned up in cities around the world, opens Friday at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. The exhibit features 200 artworks, some certified originals lent by private collectors and the rest are replicas. Andrew Santino: Comedian and actor Andrew Santino is performing live at Harrah’s Resort Southern California. He has three stand-up comedy specials on Amazon Prime, Netflix and Hulu. Farmers Insurance Open: The Farmers Insurance Open returns to the Torrey Pines Golf Course. The four-day event brings professional golfers from around the world to compete for a chance to win over $1 million in prize money. Harris English won the 2025 Farmers Insurance Open and $1.674 million. For fans, there are three ticket tiers that the public can purchase on the Farmers Insurance Open website. Daily tickets start at $72.40 for seniors and $82.60 for regular admission, which gives attendees access to all public spaces. Padres Fanfest: Fans can get an early start on the 2026 season by heading to Petco Park for Fanfest. Activities include a garage sale, a chance for kids to run the bases and Padres player and leadership Q&As. Padres members and partners get special access to some things. Wine tasting: Temecula Wines its hosting its annual barrel tasting weekend event. The public can try various unreleased wines from different wineries in the Temecula Valley. Home improvement expo: The San Diego Home Improvement Expo lands at the Del Mar Fairgrounds for two days. Visitors can see and buy hundreds of home improvement and gardening products for inside and outside homeowners’ properties. There will also be hands-on demonstrations, service exhibitors and home repair consultants at the show. Mormon Battalion Commemoration: The free, annual Mormon Battalion Commemoration is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 31 at Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. The living-history re-enactment commemorates the January 1847 arrival of the Mormon Battalion during the Mexican-American War. The battalion played a significant role in early San Diego history. Battalion members helped build roads, repair public buildings, construct a courthouse, dig wells and provide labor for the frontier community. Event highlights include a Children’s Legacy Parade, where kids dress in their ancestors’ pioneer-era clothing of 1847 and march around the Old Town Plaza, honoring their ancestors courage and service.
