A shooter is on the loose after killing 23-year-old Banwari Godara and injuring a 21-year-old man in Fresno County Saturday night.

The sheriff’s office says a group of people were near this truck repair yard on Cedar and Jefferson avenues when shots rang out and the two men were hit.

“We believe this is an isolated incident. We think that everybody involved in this knew each other,” Fresno County Sheriff’s office spokesperson Tony Botti said. “The exact reason that brought them all to this one place and why things went sideways that’s the remaining question that we need to answer.”

The Fresno County sheriff’s office says the two men were taken a northwest Fresno urgent care, a nearly 20-minute drive from where they say the shooting happened.

It’s not known why they chose urgent care instead of a hospital.

Video from an ABC30 insider shows moments after authorities arrived to help around 8 p.m. Saturday.

The two men were rushed to the hospital where Godara died. The other man was treated and released.

A motive for the shooting has not been released and it’s not yet known if this is gang-related.

“As of right now, we haven’t developed any persons of interest. Therefore, we don’t have any arrests,” Botti said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff’s office.
