Los Angeles Public Library Kicks Off Central Library’s 100-Year Birthday — Jan. 29

The Los Angeles Public Library launches its celebrations for the 100-year anniversary of the Central Library at 11 a.m. in the Mark Taper Auditorium, where guests can explore new exhibitions, limited-edition library cards, a 100-year-old time capsule and more.

Through Feb. 28, Gagosian Beverly Hills presents Sarah Sze: Feel Free. The artist’s L.A. gallery exhibition debut features two immersive video installations and a series of paintings that explore how senses, emotions and memories are conditioned by the media-saturated world.

Hotel Café commemorates a legendary 25-year-run at its Cahuenga Boulevard location with a OnesToWatch farewell showcase before closing its doors and moving to a new outpost. The lineup of emerging artists and returning alumni includes Em Beihold, Love Spells, Carlie Hanson, Niki Rubio, Debbii Dawson and Victoria Canal.  

KCRW’s School Night Returns at The Airliner — Jan. 29

KCRW’s long-running concert series reemerges at The Airliner in Lincoln Heights with a Thursday night show featuring Lindsey Troy and Ista, Sister Gemini and KCRW DJs Chris Douridas and Ale Cohen. Stop in early for a bite to eat before heading upstairs for live music.  

20 Years of the Los Angeles Ballet — Jan. 29

The Los Angeles Ballet’s milestone season continues at The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts with Rubies, George Balanchine’s jazzy production from the company’s first season; Hans Van Manen’s Frank Bridge Variations; and a world premiere by LAB artistic director Melissa Barak.

U.K.-born wellness brand Ancient + Brave makes its U.S. pop-up debut in Abbott Kinney through Feb. 21. Part sanctuary and part discovery lab, the limited-time store features community programming and workshops led by wellness innovators, shopping and guided tastings.

UCLA Film & Television Archive Presents ‘The Stringer’ — Jan. 31

As part of its winter programming, UCLA Library’s Film & Television Archive presents a screening and conversation with filmmaker Bao Nguyen about his documentary, The Stringer. The 2025 Sundance Film Festival selection unpacks the “Terror of War” photograph from the Vietnam War.

Rolling papers brand Zig-Zag takes over the Are We On Air? Kiosk on Sunset Boulevard for Grammy weekend with giveaways, music and more. On Saturday, stop by between noon and 3 p.m. for a floral giveaway with Becky Hearn; 3 and 6 p.m. for a musical performance by Destin Conrad and 6 and 8 p.m. from Andre Power. Kick off February with a half-marathon or 5K in support of the Los Angeles Parks Foundation. With the option to bring your dog along for the run, all participants receive a t-shirt and commemorative media and have access to sampling booths, food trucks and raffle prizes.

Tomat and Bad Luck Bagel join forces for a morning pop-up in support of CHIRLA. Come by starting at 10 a.m. for bagels by Bad Luck Bagels paired with smoking trout or pastrami by Tomat co-owner and chef Harry Posner. Guests can find free parking in the lot facing the restaurant or on side streets.  

OutLoud Grammy Watch Party — Feb. 1

OutLoud takes over The Abbey with a music extravaganza in honor of the Grammys. Festivities begin with a rising artist showcase at 2 p.m. hosted by DJ Hannah Rad, followed by a live broadcast of the awards ceremony and an after-party with a to-be-announced special guest.
