The city of Oakland said Thursday that it will take measures to protect its citizens against Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Mayor Barbara Lee held a press conference Thursday morning along with the interim chief of police and leaders from the federal, state and local level to “take decisive action to defend the city’s immigrant residents and reinforce Oakland’s commitment as a sanctuary city.”
The press conference comes as more local protests against ICE are expected Friday.
