(FOX40.COM) — The victim in a 1993 cold case from Fresno was identified as a woman from Sacramento, according to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.

FCSO said the woman’s body was found on July 12, 1993, on Interstate 5.

She was discovered to be wearing a ring with a photograph of a young boy around 3-4 years old, a California Hollywood Rat Race t-shirt, jean shorts and a white cross necklace.

The Cold Case Unit identified the woman in December 2025 as Janet Fay Moore. Deputies said she was 40-years-old when her body was discovered.

Moore was born in Nevada, but lived in the Sacramento area from 1971 through the time of her death.

The circumstances of her death are unknown.
