5 injured after suspected DUI driver rear-ends vehicle in Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — One driver is in police custody and several others are recovering in the hospital following a two-vehicle crash in West Central Fresno.

It happened around 10:30 Wednesday night at the intersection of Clinton and Marks avenues.

Police say a vehicle carrying a family of five was stopped at the red light when a second vehicle ended up hitting them from behind.

The driver of that second vehicle was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was arrested for felony DUI.

The family suffered multiple injuries in the collision, including some broken bones and were taken to the hospital for treatment. They are all expected to recover.

The intersection was closed for several hours due to the crash investigation but has since reopened.
