SAN DIEGO – USD Women’s Tennis had a powerful start to the ITA Southwest Regionals in America’s Finest City but eventually petered out before the end of the weekend.
 
After the Toreros went 6-0 in the singles qualifiers and 3-1 in the first round of the main draw, it was reigning WCC Freshman of the Year Hannah Read that went the furthest for the Toreros, reaching the round of 16.
 
Fellow sophomore Gabby Gregg won three straight before being bounced by the singles tournament’s No. 2 seed. In qualifying, Gregg dropped just three games in four sets with a pair of bagels. Junior Charlotte Keitel also had a bagel in her main draw first round win.

The Toreros are back in action for the Thunderbird Invitational at USD head coach Nadia Abdala‘s alma mater, Arizona State, from Halloween through Sunday, Nov. 2.
