PORTERVILLE, Calif. (KFSN) — A man is in jail for allegedly setting a woman on fire near Porterville.
The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office announced Sunday that deputies went to Avenue 120 near Orange Belt Drive around 5:30 p.m. on Friday for a medical aid call.
When they arrived, they found a woman with severe burns to her face, arms, and torso.
While investigating, deputies learned that 42-year-old Sean Hofmann had allegedly poured a highly flammable substance on or near the victim, catching her on fire.
The victim was flown to a nearby hospital and is listed as stable.
Hofmann was arrested without incident.
The sheriff’s office has not said if there is any relationship between the suspect and the victim.
